Balloons and Hoops and Their Universal Finite Type Invariant, Bf Theory, and an Ultimate Alexander Invariant

چکیده
Balloons are two-dimensional spheres. Hoops are one dimensional loops. Knotted Balloons and Hoops (KBH) in 4-space behave much like the first and second homotopy groups of a topological space — hoops can be composed as in π1, balloons as in π2, and hoops “act” on balloons as π1 acts on π2. We observe that ordinary knots and tangles in 3-space map into KBH in 4-space and become amalgams of both balloons and hoops. We give an ansatz for a tree and wheel (that is, free-Lie and cyclic word) -valued invariant ζ of (ribbon) KBHs in terms of the said compositions and action and we explain its relationship with finite type invariants. We speculate that ζ is a complete evaluation of the BF topological quantum field theory in 4D. We show that a certain “reduction and repackaging” of ζ is an “ultimate Alexander invariant” that contains the Alexander polynomial (multivariable, if you wish), has extremely good composition properties, is evaluated in a topologically meaningful way, and is least-wasteful in a computational sense. If you believe in categorification, that should be a wonderful playground. Web resources for this paper are available at [Web/]:=http://www.math.toronto.edu/~drorbn/papers/KBH/, including an electronic version, source files, computer programs, lecture handouts and lecture videos; one of the handouts is attached at the end of this paper. Throughout this paper we follow the notational conventions and notations outlined in Section 10.5.

Coordinate finite type invariant surfaces in Sol spaces
In the present paper, we study surfaces invariant under the 1-parameter subgroup in Sol space $rm Sol_3$. Also, we characterize the surfaces in $rm Sol_3$ whose coordinate functions of an immersion of the surface are eigenfunctions of the Laplacian $Delta$ of the surface.
متن کاملON THE USE OF KULSHAMMER TYPE INVARIANTS IN REPRESENTATION THEORY
Since 2005 a new powerful invariant of an algebra has emerged using the earlier work of Horvath, Hethelyi, Kulshammer and Murray. The authors studied Morita invariance of a sequence of ideals of the center of a nite dimensional algebra over a eld of nite characteristic. It was shown that the sequence of ideals is actually a derived invariant, and most recently a slightly modied version o...
متن کاملGeneralized Baer-Invariant of a Pair of Groups and the Direct Limit
In this paper we introduce the concept of generalized Baer-invariant of a pair of groups with respect to two varieties ? and ? of groups. We give some inequalities for the generalized Baer-invariant of a pair of finite groups, when ? is considered to be the Schur-Baer variety. Further, we present a sufficient condition under which the order of the generalized Baer-invariant of a pair of finite ...
متن کاملTranslation invariant surfaces in the 3-dimensional Heisenberg group
In this paper, we study translation invariant surfaces in the 3-dimensional Heisenberg group $rm Nil_3$. In particular, we completely classify translation invariant surfaces in $rm Nil_3$ whose position vector $x$ satisfies the equation $Delta x = Ax$, where $Delta$ is the Laplacian operator of the surface and $A$ is a $3 times 3$-real matrix.
متن کاملOplus-supplemented modules with respect to images of a fully invariant submodule
Lifting modules and their various generalizations as some main concepts in module theory have been studied and investigated extensively in recent decades. Some authors tried to present some homological aspects of lifting modules and -supplemented modules. In this work, we shall present a homological approach to -supplemented modules via fully invariant submodules. Lifting modules and H-suppleme...
